Angela Rayner finally apologises for calling Tories ‘scum’
Angela Rayner gave a half-hearted apology for calling Tories "scum".
Angela Rayner has apologised for using 'upsetting language'
Labour’s deputy leader said she was sorry if her comments caused offence, before launching a fresh attack on the Prime Minister.
Ms Rayner was given a dressing down by Sir Keir Starmer on Tuesday for the tirade four days ago.
She told the BBC: “I understand people are upset by that language, I do understand that. That’s me, I’m bombastic, and I apologise if it offended the public in the way in which I expressed it.”
Tory MP Paul Holmes said it was “shameful” she had yet to say sorry for being “offensive to the 14 million that voted Conservative in 2019”.
