Nigel Farage has issued a ‘national security emergency’ after over 300 migrants crossed the Channel in one day.
The Reform Party leader has previously claimed his party would stop small boats within 100 days as he launched Reform's “contract” with voters and had made tackling illegal immigration one of the insurgent party's five core pledges.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) this morning Nigel Farage claimed “another 331 illegal migrants crossed the channel yesterday”.
His full tweet said: “Another 331 illegal migrants crossed the Channel yesterday. This is a national security emergency.”

The Reform Party’s manifesto document, titled "Our Contract With You", claims the party would curb Channel crossings in its first 100 days with a four-point plan.
The proposals involve leaving the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), with zero illegal immigrants being resettled in the UK, a new Government department for immigration, and migrants crossing the channel in small boats being returned to France.
More than 10,000 migrants have made the dangerous journey from France so far this year.
Last year, 29,437 migrants arrived in the UK, down 36% on a record 45,774 arrivals in 2022. It's the highest number of arrivals since November 29 2022, when 893 migrants were intercepted.

It comes as Rishi Sunak warned Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer would make the UK the “soft touch of Europe” on illegal immigration if he wins the General Election.
The Prime Minister told LBC: “If you care about stopping the boats, I am the only one who has got a plan to do it.
"We have got, over the last 12 months the numbers are down, it shows you can make progress.”
Recently Nigel Farage has been roundly condemned for saying the West is to blame for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in an interview with the BBC.
The Reform Party's leader wrote in a social media post in February 2022 that Putin's invasion of Ukraine was "a consequence of EU and Nato expansion".
