Former Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron has had his official Commons portrait replaced with Nigel Farage’s image.

The blunder on Parliament’s website means Mr Farron’s portrait is one of the Reform leader, while Mr Farage’s image appears to be an older snap of himself.

Taking to X, Mr Farron quipped: “We are taking our continued commitment to infiltrating other parties in order to bring them to ruin, to a new level…”

Mr Farage has yet to respond to the mistake but people on social media have joked about the mistake.

One social media user, in reference to Mr Farage, said: “I always knew he was an exceptionally liberal individual.”

Another said: “Extraordinary - is someone working out their notice?”

All 650 MPs get an official photograph taken during their first few days in Parliament.

These are then uploaded to the official website which provides information about the politician's history and contact details.

A House of Commons spokeswoman said: "Due to a technical issue, a small number of official portraits have been uploaded incorrectly - this is being remedied as quickly as possible."
