An avid James Bond fan has tried the iconic character's favourite drink, but was left "disgusted" by the results.
The classic vodka martini – shaken, not stirred – first became known as 007's stable back when Sean Connery embodied the character. However, members of the r/CasualUK Reddit thread have been left less than impressed by the drink.
One user, Heavy_Two, wrote: "Just made myself my first Martini. Not shaken or stirred, just poured. Absolutely disgusting.
"Had some Vermouth knocking about in the cupboard as well as some Gin, so mixed them together and popped an olive in.
"Wow! Minging. Even the addition of tonic water doesn't help much. I've gone right off James Bond now. What mixer drinks do you find disgusting?"

But fellow drinkers say the problem could be in the ingredients used and how they are stored, rather than the tipple itself. One user said stirring the drink was absolutely necessary and that the original poster's way of serving it could have led to the unpleasant taste.
They wrote: "A couple of problems. Vermouth needs to be kept in the fridge once opened. If it’s knocking about in the cupboard it’s probably been open for some time and will taste awful.
"Secondly, stirring the drink on ice cools and dilutes it, just mixing and serving is gonna be very warm and too strong. Martinis are an acquired taste so even if you’d made a fantastic one, you might not have liked it!"
Other users compared the lack of mixing to putting beans and toast in a pan together and expecting it to be delicious.

One joked: "Sounds like a 16 year old me at a house party! You can't just pour the two together and that's that. Beans on toast? Whack 'em in a pan together!"
Meanwhile others agreed martinis are not an enjoyable drink – even when done right. One wrote: "It tastes like my nan's hairspray smelt."
Another agreed: " I went to a secret gin bar in London and had my first martini. Absolutely disgusting. And I assume it was made properly."
Bond's favourite cocktail was a disappointing experience for many, with one even likening it to an Aperol Spritz, which they described as "super dissapointing" and "overwhelmingly bitter".
