Glastonbury slammed for ‘celebrating migrants’ when festival has fences keeping people out
A dinghy with dummies representing migrants, all in orange high vis life jackets, was launched into the crowd - with many branding it tasteless.
A stunt at Glastonbury has sparked ridicule - as fans have pointed out the hypocrisy of passing around an "inflatable dinghy of migrants" when the festival itself has huge fences stopping people from getting in.
Dummies representing migrants, all in orange high vis life jackets, sat atop the dinghy during a performance by rock band Idles, with many branding it tasteless.
The boat was launched during the Idles song Danny Nedelko, which opens with the lyrics: “My blood brother is an immigrant / A beautiful immigrant... He’s made of bones, he’s made of blood / He’s made of flesh, he’s made of love / He’s made of you, he’s made of me”.
People initially presumed it was part of the rock band’s performance as it appeared during a song with lyrics that plead for empathy for the plight of immigrants and criticises the government.

However, the band has since confirmed they were not behind the act, and Bansky is reportedly behind the controversial stunt.
One astonished viewer accused it of "glorifying" illegal immigration, adding: "The heavily fenced & guarded compound of Glastonbury, surrounded by security, to ensure no one can illegally break in… is celebrating illegal migrants in dinghies, illegally breaking into the UK. You couldn’t make this s*** up!"
Another fumed: " One of the most cringe, out of touch and middle class things I’ve seen at Glastonbury. Crowdsurfing a lifeboat representing illegal migrants. Being open borders at a music festival which has a gigantic fence & very high security. So edgy."
A third asked: " Most narcissistic moment of Glastonbury so far?"
Meanwhile a spokesperson for Conservative organisation Turning Point chimed in: " The liberal elite at Glastonbury pass round an inflatable illegal migrant boat in a mosh pit. These people are actually insane. Incredibly offensive to the British people and the illegal migrants."

Migration was a big theme at this year’s Glastonbury. The festival introduced a new area, named Terminal 1, which was constructed of yellow steel and glass and has been made to look like the part of an airport terminal where passengers board a plane.
The Idles also made their feelings about abolishing the monarchy clear when they invited audiences to join them in a chant of "F*** the King" during their set while Welsh singer Charlotte Church also sang 'free Palestine' and wore a Palestinian keffiyeh.
One music fan lamented that Glastonbury was "no longer a music festival", arguing that there'd been a cultural shift since Labour's Jeremy Corbyn was invited there, and that it had become a "cult" to "poison minds".
Some fans have called for Somerset Council to revoke Glastonbury's licence on the grounds that it was "celebrating" terrorists.
