Hoping England have the bottle, milkman changes delivery time for first time in 45 years
EXCLUSIVE: Andrew Watts has been forced to alter the time he delivers milk after his family 'mutinied' because they wanted to watch England versus Spain.
A dedicated milkman is changing the time he delivers for the first time in 45 YEARS because of the England Euros final.
Andrew Watts, 66, has been leaving milk on doorsteps for the good people of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, for almost half a century.
To ensure the fresh dairy produce is ready for his customers Andrew, his wife Michaela, and family and volunteers work through the night after leaving the house at 9pm.
But this Sunday for the first time ever Andrew, who recently had a knee operation, said his family and staff had “mutinied” because they wanted to watch the Three Lions’ crunch match against Spain.
In a hilarious letter to customers Andrew said: “two weeks ago I had a knee replacement and have and am still, relying on family to help with the milk deliveries.”
The note continued in capitals: “THEY HAVE REFUSED TO WORK SUNDAY NIGHT, THANKS TO ENGLAND’S FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE.”

Mr Watts added that deliveries for Monday would instead start at 9am on Sunday to be finished around “teatime”.
Thanking his loyal customers for their cooperation, Andrew signed off his note with the cry “COME ON ENGLAND”.
He said: “We deliver whatever the weather usually, but on Sunday night we’ll be hoping the England team deliver in the final. I guess we just hope they have the bottle.
“We usually leave the house about 9pm on Sunday night and work right through the night so everyone has milk Monday morning.
“But a couple of weeks ago had a partial knee replacement, so I’ve been relying on family and volunteers because I’m not allowed to go running up and down drives at the moment.

“Now they’ve all mutinied on me because of the football, they refused to go out and so we are doing it on Sunday morning instead.”
Andrew said he was grateful for the support of his family and friends and the understanding of his customers.
But he joked: “They are all volunteers and family, by the time another week goes by I’m sure they’ll be trying to divorce me, and get rid of me as the father and step-father.
“I’ve been doing just before my eldest son Mark was born, so I’ve been doing it about 45 years in Knaresborough now. It was originally supposed to be a five-year-plan.”
