An 'underrated' food scene in a US State has been mocked – with spaghetti served without a plate or bowl.

Twitter/X users were left reeling by the chopping board serving choice for the Italian classic as members of the social media platform begged for a more traditional method of eating the meal.

But an undeterred original poster hit back, praising the underrated food culture in Milwaukee. Some believe the food was "wrong" to be served without a bowl while others likened it to a "plank of gruel".

Emmy winner Brandon Pope showed off his piles of spaghetti and wrote: "Milwaukee's food scene is UNDERRATED and deserves respect.

"Crew dinner last night. Yes, this is a pasta flight."

Few were interested by the variety of pasta on offer and instead turned their attention to the serving method. One wrote: "Why does it have to be served on a board... this feels wrong."

Another added: "Congrats on your plank of gruel." A third wrote: "Extremely trifling of them to put this straight onto the board and not in small individual bowls."

Others claimed it is one of "the funniest things I have ever seen" as quotes of the post continue to mock the presentation choice of the restaurant. The restaurant in question was Dorsia in Milwaukee, and some were impressed by the meal.

One user wrote: "That looks amazing. What restaurant is this? I’m suppose to hit Milwaukee up in a month."

But the bulk of Twitter/X was unimpressed with the food items, and related the lack of bowls to New York's recent introduction of wheelie bins. They joked: "New York only just discovered Wheely bins, Milwaukee still yet to unearth the secrets of the bowl... Great things are coming my friends I promise."

Others had wild theories on why the spaghetti was presented on a plank of wood, with one joking: "Ok so server clearly dropped the food and were too scared to ask chef to remake it so they just ripped the plank out of the floor and called it a day."
