Joe Biden's 'cognitive issues' are 'problematic' and risk plunging US into 'great chaos'

EXCLUSIVE: David Stuckenberg told the Express that Joe Biden's "cognitive issues" could become very "problematic" and were causing real concern among US voters.

Joe Biden's "cognitive issues" make him unfit to be US President, a Republican politician told the Express.

Over the past few months, the US President has made a number of embarrassing gaffes that have once again led to fears about his age and ability to continue working in the world's most pressurised job.

During a campaign event in Las Vegas in February, the 81-year-old confused France's President Emmanuel Macron with one of his long since dead predecessors - François Mitterrand.

To make things worse, he then referred to Mitterand as the leader of Germany, before correcting himself.

More recently, Biden mixed up Iraq and Ukraine when talking to reporters about military aid for Kyiv, during his trip to France this month to attend D-Day commemorations.

David Stuckenberg took part in the Republican Presidential primaries earlier this year, believing it was time for younger politicians to be given the chance to lead their country.

The 42-year-old told the Express that Biden's erratic behaviour was a serious worry for most Americans.

He said: "My opinion is that the president has demonstrated some cognitive issues visibly and that these are not resolved yet from a public standpoint.

"And these may become very problematic for him as he gets into the latter part of this election."

He noted that Republican rival Donald Trump,78, also had suffered his fair share of senior moments and that neither candidate inspired real confidence they were physically and mentally up to the task of leading America.

A majority of Americans appear to agree, with an ABC News/Ipsos poll in February showing that 59 percent thought both Biden and Trump were too old for office.

Mr Stuckenberg, a former US fighter pilot, fears the US is heading towards a period of great instability - both at home and abroad.

"I predict great chaos regardless of who's elected because neither candidate projects strength," he said.

"Neither of them has a plan or a strategy in terms of dealing with things that are coming our way, revisionist powers, global trends. And so I'm deeply concerned about it."

Moreover he believes that Trump's disregard for political norms and deliberate attempts to sow division and distrust among Americans is destroying the country from within and playing into the hands of its enemies.

"Frankly, in my opinion, he's very dangerous," he said. "He's not rational and he's not tethered to the things and the norms that restrain reasonable people.

"We're living in a time of great uncertainty. Those actors who are working external to the United States to weaken us and to move us towards strife want to continue to undermine our confidence in our institutions and in the bedrock of this country.

"Those who are bringing the American people into unity, those who are working to cool temperatures, those who are working to restore and bring order - they are the people that are helping our nation.

"Those who are bringing strife, those who are unsettling us, those who are going to war with our neighbours and continuing to develop and cultivate and promote distrust - it's very unhealthy because it's being amplified by external actors who wish America to destroy itself. That is part of a deliberate campaign."
