Joe Biden calls Donald Trump a 'crook, failure and a fraud' in bitter birthday message

President Biden has blasted back at Donald Trump by sending him a special "birthday greetings" message accusing him of being "a crook, a failure and a fraud."

The scathing message opens with the words “Happy birthday, Donald” but then lists 78 of his “accomplishments” – one for each year he has been alive – that include two impeachments, four criminal indictments, threats to political opponents and support for violence.

The list was delivered as Trump marked his 78th birthday with a private rally near his Florida home and also includes his business failures, bankruptcies and alleged sexual misconduct and racism.

It was sent by President Biden’s election campaign executive James Singer, who added the “greeting”: “You’re a crook, a failure, a fraud and a threat to our democracy, economy, rights and future.”

Mr. Trump did not comment on his rival’s message but told a gathering of around 5,000 supporters who cheered loudly as he was presented with a colossal, multi-layer ‘MAGA cake’: “There’s a certain point at which you don’t want to hear ‘Happy birthday.’ You just want to pretend the day doesn’t exist.”

The former commander-in-chief spoke to followers, who paid up to £45 on Friday night to attend the rally at Palm Beach Convention Centre – barely five miles from Mar-a-Lago – as Russian warships, including a nuclear sub, continued military maneuvers in Cuban waters less than 100 miles from the US coast.

Mr. Trump blasted the provocative move but scoffed at President Biden, adding: “Putin has no respect for him. No foreign leaders have respect for him.”

He then lambasted his rival’s “open border” immigration policy following last week’s arrests of eight suspects with alleged links to ISIS and declared: “Crooked Joe Biden is now guilty of supplying material support to terrorism.”

Mr. Trump was yesterday due to campaign in Michigan, where supporters were planning to continue his birthday celebrations with a patriotic boat parade on Michigan’s Lake St. Clair. President Biden was due to land in Los Angeles, where he is fund-raising among Hollywood figures and business leaders.
