BGT: Amanda Holden in tears after epic vocal performance by Sydnie
Amanda Holden has admitted she almost keeled over during Sydnie Chirstmas’s latest Britain’s Got Talent performance. The 28-year-old brought the house down with her rendition of ‘My Way’ on Wednesday evening’s (May 29) semi-final show.
Fresh from appearing on the ITV judging panel, Amanda, 53, returned to her Heart FM Breakfast show with co-host Jamie Theakston on Thursday (May 30). During the radio broadcast, talk turned to Sydnie booking herself a place in the Britain’s Got Talent finale.
“So, Britain’s Got Talent, back last night of course – and there were tears, it’s fair to say,” began Jamie. The mum-of-two said: “Oh my gosh, my brilliant Golden Buzzer winner Sydnie Christmas went on, and I mean I thought she was extraordinary.
“Obviously, I pressed the Golden Buzzer for her,” she continued. But to watch her last night, she went on last, and she did her own rendition of ‘My Way,’ and I held my breath for so long that when I stood up to give her a standing ovation, I literally nearly collapsed over the desk – I forgot to breathe!”
Amanda revealed she had been “so nervous” for the Kent native ahead of her slot and that she had been “holding [her] breath” during her take on the Frank Sinatra classic. “Because to have to sort of control your nerves, and you’re last, and you’ve got all night to wait, and then knock it out…
“I mean, knock it out the park doesn’t even cover what she achieved last night. She was phenomenal.”
When asked if fans have already seen this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner, the Kiss Me Kate actress replied in the affirmative.
“I mean, to be honest, the final is shaping up to look absolutely brilliant, and I personally think there are at least three people in that final that could easily win the show.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Jamie revealed the Heart FM team had been inundated with messages regarding Amanda’s outfit for the evening.
Last night, the star stepped out alongside Alesha Dixon, Simon Cowell and Strictly Come Dancing alumni Bruno Tonioli in a Barbie-inspired pink Celia Kritharioti gown.
The strapless dress featured a structured, corseted bodice, an extravagant mullet hem and ruffled detailing.
