Sunday Brunch: Tim jokes he's 'cancelled' during football chat
It looked as though Tim Lovejoy may have gotten himself in trouble with the England Lionesses. During the most recent episode of Sunday Brunch, the presenter wasted no time in speaking about the upcoming Euros match between England and Slovakia on Sunday afternoon.
However, it seemed as though one guest wasn't fussed about the sporting event. Steven Moffat admitted he’s not a huge fan as he confessed not understanding everyone making a big deal of it.
He said: “It just looks to me like a bunch of blokes having a game in a field, what are you all talking about? I’m sure it’s lovely for them, why do I have to watch them play it?”
Defending the sport, Tim told the guest he enjoyed it as their other guest Frank Skinner agreed.
He explained it allows people to get profoundly emotional about something that deep down doesn’t matter.
Tim added: “I actually think we can win it, we’ve got the players to win. I know that’s stupid but I’m actually not sure I want us to win! I think I’m scared of the unknown.
“That 66’ thing that you’ve sung about is there and I don’t think I want to live through us winning.”
With one guest questioning whether or not he enjoys that disappointment, Tim agreed.
He said: “I think I’m used to it so much that that’s what represents this country, is disappointment. I’m not sure, I’m not sure.”

However, as Tim failed to highlight that the female England won the Euros back in 2022, Frank wasted no time in pointing it out.
Cutting in, he said: “Can I just say, if any of the Lionesses are watching I’d like to acknowledge that you did win it.”
His comments earned a cheer from the rest of the panel as they gave a large round of applause.
Tim started to laugh awkwardly before saying: “Well done Frank, Frank just threw me under the bus! Ok, I’m now cancelled.”
It wasn’t long before the Channel 4 presenter swiftly moved the conversation on as his co-star Simon Rimmer told viewers what he’d be making in the show.
On Sunday afternoon, ITV viewers will see England take on Slovakia in the first knockout match.
England had a 0-0 draw on Tuesday, which meant that they won Group C.
Sunday Brunch continues Sundays on Channel 4 from 9:30am.
