Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the exit of eight players, as Ange Postecoglou eyes a summer refresh in north London.

The capital club narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season, with Postecoglou keen to compete for a top-four spot next time around.

And the former Celtic boss has wasted no time in trimming down his squad, with several big-name players having been let go.

The most notable being Eric Dier, who joined Spurs from Sporting CP back in 2014.

Featuring over 270 times for the club, Dier spent the second half of last season out on loan at Bayern Munich, where he helped the Bundesliga outfit reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Ivan Perisic's short-term stint at Tottenham has come to an end, with the Croatian's injury-ridden spell lasting just two years.

Showing signs of promise under former boss Antonio Conte, Perisic struggled to make the necessary impression under Postecoglou, with the wing-back going on to suffer a cruciate ligament tear early on in the new manager's reign.

A loan move to Hajduk Split followed in January, but Perisic has now left Spurs for good following the expiration of his contract.

However, the most surprising exit from Spurs' summer cull is Ryan Sessegnon - the one-time 'next big thing'.

Sessegnon joined Spurs from Fulham in 2019, putting pen to paper on a bumper £25million move.

Named the Championship Player of the Season a year earlier, Sessegnon arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium amid plenty of promise.

But the young Englishman failed to live up to expectations - partly down to a run of rotten luck with injuries.

The 24-year-old managed just seven senior minutes across all competitions for Spurs last time out, having undergone surgery, only to pick up a hamstring injury following his recovery.

Dier, Perisic and Sessegnon are followed out of the exit door by academy product Japhet Tanganga, who made his first-team debut in 2019.

Tottenham have also confirmed Charlie Sayers, Billy Heaps, Kieran Morgan and Han Willhoft-King will leave the club, taking the total number of departures to eight.
