Harry Redknapp believes the fact Jack Grealish might not even make England's Euro 2024 squad is exactly why Gareth Southgate's side should win the tournament, with the Three Lions' strength in depth threatening to leave the Manchester City star at home.

Grealish has been included in Southgate's provisional 33-man squad which beat Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday, and will face Iceland on Friday. But there are doubts over whether he will survive to make the final 26-man list, which will be released to the public on Saturday once seven players have been given the chop.

Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze are among England's options to play on the left wing, where Grealish has featured primarily for City this season, and all three players head into the Euros in superior form than the former Aston Villa star.

According to Redknapp, a player with the quality of treble-winner Grealish facing the prospect of not making it into the Euros squad shows exactly where England are in terms of depth. When asked whether he thought the Three Lions failing to win Euro 2024 would be deemed a failure, the former Tottenham and West Ham boss told Express Sport: "Yeah, I do.

"With that squad, I would be disappointed if we didn't win it. Coming second, making a semi-final... that wouldn't be a success, that would be a failure in my opinion. With this squad, we're entitled to win it.

"We've got a fantastic group of players. Some of the younger ones have pushed on. [Jude] Bellingham has become an absolute superstar footballer, he's an incredible player. He's a Champions League winner with Real Madrid, Foden is the player of the year in the Premier League.

"This is a squad where we've got players like Grealish who might not even make it to the tournament. Jack Grealish would be in any team in the world, in my opinion. That's how strong we are."

Grealish will hope for the opportunity to shine against Iceland, as he did against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a sharp individual display and an impressive assist sending a message to those who criticised his inclusion in the provisional squad.

Many felt Marcus Rashford was more deserving, given his past performances for England. The Manchester United forward was brutally left out by Southgate after an underwhelming individual season and an eighth-place Premier League finish.

Southgate wielded the axe for the first time on Wednesday night, with reports indicating Tottenham star James Maddison has left the England camp after discovering he won't be part of the group heading to Euro 2024.

Redknapp also spoke to Express Sport about his association with Sorare, a fantasy football game in which fans can pit their wits against him during this summer's Euros. "I want the chance to prove that I was the best manager England never had, so this competition gives people a chance to play against me and see just how my knowledge is on football," he said.

"I'm really looking forward to the Euros, and with Sorare rivals, I'm ready to give it a go this year. People come on, they've got to pick five players and the tactics for every game, and they'll play against me to see if they can come out on top."
