Ian Poulter has blasted British Airways after his golf clubs were left behind en route to Texas just days before the start of LIV Golf Houston. Poulter is set to tee it up at the Golf Club of Houston on Friday, with the Ryder Cup legend hunting for points as he vies to pull clear of the relegation zone.

But both he and Majesticks teammate Henrik Stenson have had their preparation for the tournament thrown into doubt, with their clubs left behind at Terminal 5 as they jetted to the United States on Monday.

Majesticks co-captain Poulter sits 37th in the LIV Golf standings heading into this week's event, and he was left furious with the airline as his build-up to the event was thrown into chaos. Poulter took to Instagram to share an email he received from British Airways informing him he needed to arrange delivery of his golf bag to his destination, and he gave the airline a piece of his mind.

"FFS British Airways, so disappointing," Poulter fumed. "I checked in two hours and 30 minutes before the flight. What could possibly be the excuse? Just received the email three hours into the flight. I wouldn't have bothered flying if you're not sending my golf clubs. Can't swing fresh air.

"Talk about p***** off @British_Airways. The golf bag wasn't overweight. I took it to oversize [check-in] and scanned it and watched it go down the belt. Pathetic.

"Just for the record, Henrik Stenson's golf clubs [are there] as well. You might as well find those as well whilst you're looking for mine. The only thing you guys do very well is charge for flying.

Poulter and Stenson's bags have been fitted with Apple Air Tags, a tracking device that gives live updates of their precise location, and the 48-year-old went to the length of sharing a screenshot on Instagram with the airline in the hope of hurrying the delivery process along.

Poulter, a founding member of LIV, is still waiting for his first win on the breakaway circuit and he has had a tough start to the season with just one top-20 finish to his name, tying for eighth in Hong Kong in March. He has struggled for form since, finishing 29th, 52nd and 35th in the three events before the mid-season break.

After more than a month off, Poulter hopes he can find his groove and climb both the individual and team standings, with Majesticks ranked 12th out of 13 teams after seven events. In another fiery Instagram post, Poulter took aim at his critics last month.

"I don't need to win again. However I will, and those who don't think or believe or feed negativity on here need to look in the mirror as they are probably hiding behind some issues. So please go seek help or consult in good friends," Poulter said.
