Luke Littler has put his opponents on notice after a fantastic display at the Poland Darts Masters at the weekend. The 17-year-old claimed his second World Series of Darts title of the season as he ramps up preparations for the World Matchplay.

The Runcorn-born star beat Adam Gawlas 6-4 in his initial game, before facing Peter Wright in the quarter finals. However, the youngster, who has taken the world by storm admitted that he didn't really practice going into the tournament, only spending around 10 minutes on the oche before his match with Wright.

He said: "People know I don't practice that often, but before the Peter Wright game I didn't practice. I must have had about ten minutes. When he started off well I was just thinking to myself 'I've not practiced'. He averaged 109, Peter missed doubles and I took my shot and then I played well against Smithy and Rob."

Wright started off strong, but Littler ultimately was able to turn the game around to make his way to the semi-finals 6-3. Admitting that it was no easy feat, the sensation added: "We know what Peter can do - he's still got it in the locker - but I was just happy to take my shots. He missed a few doubles and I punished him."

Littler would go on to defeat Michael Smith 7-6, before making light work of Rob Cross 8-3 in the final to take home the title. Speaking on his performance at the PDM, 'The Nuke' said: "I think i've just grown myself into it beating all these guys I've been looking up to.

"But I know I can beat them most of the time, and if my performances are there then I will win." The pro said that he now hopes to achieve another major between now and the PDC World Darts Championship at the end of the year - but intends on taking time off to visit Germany beforehand.

He explained: "I'll be happy with another major hopefully, whatever one it is. But I'll have next weekend off, going to go to Leverkusen and then I'll be back for some pro tours."

Littler is favourite to reign supreme at the World Matchpla in Blackpool next month, but he'll take on stiff competition in the likes of Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen. Speaking on his chances of winning, he added: "It shows my performances are why I'm favourite to lift the trophy.

"But I'll take some rest off, have some practice, go to the pro tours and return for the Matchplay."
