Fantasy Impact: This move was made to make room for the addition of Erick Fedde. McGreevy posted a strong start in his MLB debut against the Rangers and will likely be next up if the Cardinals need a spot start.
Oscar Mercado opted out of his minor league deal with the Padres and is now a free agent.
Fantasy Impact: Mercado is hitting .226 in Triple-A this season with 11 home runs. He'll look to land in a new situation with another team.
The Cardinals optioned Ryan Loutos to Triple-A Memphis.
Fantasy Impact: Loutos has made three appearances for the Cardinals this season. He could be back up in the majors later in the year.
The Tigers acquired Troy Watson from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.
Fantasy Impact: It is a rare trade completed after the trade deadline. Watson will add pitching depth to the Tigers organization.
The Tigers selected the contract of Brenan Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo.
Fantasy Impact: Hanifee has posted a 5.17 ERA across 47 innings in the minor leagues this season. He made three relief appearances for Detroit last year.

Fantasy Impact: Guenther has posted a 3.86 ERA across 44 1/3 innings in the minor leagues this season. He last appeared in the majors with the Marlins in the 2021 season.
The Tigers activated Javier Baez from the from the bereavement list on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact: Baez is not in the lineup on Thursday, but he is back with the team. He figures to be back in the lineup on Friday.
