New flood maps have been developed for Golden Valley County and the City of Beach. If residents or businesses feel there is an error in the map, they have a 90-day period to provide scientific or engineering data.


Moody County’s flood insurance rate map update is nearing completion. The new maps will provide Moody County with more accurate flood risk information that can help local officials and residents make informed decisions about reducing flood risks and purchasing flood insurance.


FEMA is requesting public comments on its latest Public Assistance Program and Policy Guide version 5, which focuses on plain language and increased eligibility for assistance. The 60-day public comment period opens June 18, 2024 and closes August 19, 2024.


FEMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program which includes more than 22,600 Participating Communities. This year, FEMA’s Floodplain Management Division is conducting a survey of the nation’s Floodplain Administrators who manage local floodplains for these jurisdictions. FEMA’s Grant Programs Directorate (GPD) is offering a series of one-hour trainings on the federal procurement under grants rules applicable to recipients and subrecipients purchasing under a FEMA grant award. These virtual trainings will be facilitated by GPD’s Procurement Disaster Assistance Team (PDAT) and will be offered on various dates from January through June 2024.


Virtual presentation and live demonstration hosted by FEMA’s Resilience Analysis Branch (RAB) to highlight the updates and improvements to the Resilience Analysis and Planning Tool. FEMA seeks to provide insight and guidance, especially real-world scenarios, to RAPT users as RAPT is updated and transitions to a new platform.

These virtual trainings will be facilitated by GPD’s Buy America Branch (BAB) and offered on various dates from April through August 2024. The trainings will cover a variety of topics related to BABAA, including roles and responsibilities, best practices, covered products, and waivers.
