The first synagogue to be built in Spain since the expulsion of the Jews nearly five centuries ago, is nearing completion at Barcelona.
The building will house two congregations under one roof, there being separate worship halls for the Ashkenazi and Sephardic communities. The four-storied structure will also serve as a community center for Barcelona’s 2,500 Jewish inhabitants and will provide facilities for a Jewish school for children.
