Setting boundaries. I started understanding this much better in the past 10 years or so in sport management. Setting boundaries, both for myself & immediate colleagues, is necessary and is an important step in liberating me (and them) from the clutches of burnout and seeing the trees through the forest. We can only control what we do, and while I don't subscribe to 'work-life balance', setting boundaries works in delineating between being productive at work and dedicating time for my own interests outside of it.

Start as soon as possible to give yourself the opportunity to give it your best. One thing I’ve found helpful is setting clear boundaries, also. Some times participants or parents can overreach and if you haven’t set those boundaries things can become complicated and stressful or even worse, burdensome.
Establishing clear boundaries is essential for work-life balance. Decide on specific times when you are unavailable for work-related issues, unless it's an absolute emergency. Communicate these boundaries to your colleagues and stick to them. This may mean turning off your phone or email notifications during personal time. Respecting these limits yourself encourages others to do the same, which can lead to a healthier work environment for everyone involved.

Instead of setting boundaries, explore boundaries together with supervisors and peers. This is especially true when starting out in one’s career. This requires a willingness to go beyond what is comfortable and test one’s limits and abilities. Have open and honest dialogue with supervisors if you experience difficulty. This way, you demonstrated willingness to go beyond and give yourself the opportunity to grow.

Honestly setting boundaries is harder than it looks. The boundaries that I’ll talk about is how much you need to understand your time aka time management. You need to be flexible in deciding when and how wide your boundaries should be at different period of time. Before setting any boundaries, it also means that the rest of the team need to understand the roles and responsibilities so everyone is on the same page. Eventually, this only works effectively when your team are synergised.
Delegation is a key skill in sports management. You can't do everything alone, so it's important to trust your team and delegate tasks appropriately. This not only helps with managing your workload but also empowers your team members, giving them a chance to grow and take on more responsibility. Effective delegation leads to a more efficient operation and provides you with the necessary time to focus on strategy and personal development.
