Address potential connectivity issues and make recorded sessions accessible for those needing to review the content later.

There are many already-defined standards and best practices out there, and using providers that have certified themselves against these is a huge way to level up in this area. You'll want to "trust but verify" in this regard, both doing your own independent testing of the platform you choose to ensure it is fit for purpose with regard to accessibility, as well as requesting to speak to their subject matter expert. What has worked for my org is leveraging platforms that promote gamification, and using WhatsApp for quicker learning bytes to consume post working hours. In all seriousness, orgs may have to accept that "remote training" is a privilege for only few.

The technical producer and facilitator meet prior to kickoff to rehearse and view the program on different devices. Any technical features that learners will use as a part of the program (e.g. Zoom annotations) should be demonstrated in advance of the activity with a moment for learners to practice using the feature. It's also a good idea to have a simplified backup activity in place if learners struggle with navigating the platform.

Culture plays a huge role when you think of creating remote programs. I've had opportunities of learning how to do best, both in HR roles and as an Employee myself. When adapting legacy in-person content for virtual synchronous/asynchronous (online at the same time or online, self-directed) delivery, a common pitfall is migrating materials without evaluating its effectiveness for a virtual environment. In example, an in-person activity requiring small group discussion may not be possible when your online learning group is now 300 participants dispersed internationally. It may be more effective to modify the activity into a group share out where learners take time to reflect independently then share words or images representing their thoughts. Some participants can be called on to expand their thoughts or context can be shared in the chat and read out by the facilitator, allowing for similar engagement.

Create Opportunities for Interaction The absence of their classmates to discuss a topic or their teacher can make the students more frustrated. The instructors can overcome this problem. They can organize groups, forums, or webinars for the students to discuss questions and gather information.Interactive sessions can be conducted using polls, live chat, games and more. From my experience, engagement tops everything! Or else, people can just skim through a document. We always need to make sure we are giving content of value but also making it easy for the user to follow through and stay. Short videos worked really well for remote training and mix and match activities. People are busy, so you want to make sure you are getting their attention and giving bits of learning quickly.

I do and I understand - Confucius It's evident that people learn and remember when they do it their own and hence, to make even remote training more effective, one must add some assignments on the screen and suggest the team to do it while keeping screen on. It can lead to an active participation and also participants will remember the whole learning and experience for long time.

In my experience, for synchronous, it is helpful to schedule training in groups - you can group the audience in terms of similar time zones, entry-level knowledge, language, availability or roles. Publishing the entire schedule helps audience select the slots or change their slot in case they are unable to attend a session. For asynchronous learning, the material should be available for the stipulated time communicated.

Training for Instructors - Educate instructors and content creators on the importance of accessibility and provide guidance on creating inclusive content. Offer training sessions on accessible design principles.

First of all, it is important to have a learning environment available for any type of worker and role to access training. Furthermore, sensitizing managers to encourage employees to undertake training, including setting aside schedule times for training, is also essential. Finally, the manager must be aware of the content and encourage it to be transferred into everyday work life. Actions that endorse and validate training, helping with engagement

Ensure that your organization provides time and space for this type of learning. When learning experiences are self-paced it is easy for managers and organizations to forget to carve out time for learning. Self-paced learning also requires the learner to engage and process the material even if the timeline is flexible.
