On Monday, my wife called to inform me that a fire had started directly behind our house. Initially, I dismissed it, telling her that the Orange County Fire Department (OCFD) would likely extinguish it quickly and that it probably wasn't cause for concern. However, 20 minutes later, she called again to say it was spreading rapidly and that I needed to head home. That same day, our house fell within a mandatory evacuation zone. Witnessing these brave men and women battle the fire from our house was nothing short of incredible. The round-the-clock coordination of helicopters, planes (including DC-10s and 747s), and fire engines demonstrated true teamwork in action. I'd like to express my gratitude to Cal Fire, Orange County Sheriff's Department, Orange County Fire Authority, and all other agencies involved for their incredible work on the Airport Fire here in Orange County. While I'm aware of numerous other devastating fires currently burning in California, this one hit close to home. Your efforts are truly appreciated. Airport Fire Today: • 23,494 Acres Burned • 21,993 Structures Threatened • Orange and Riverside Counties Impacted • 22 Structures Destroyed (as of now) • 2 Civilians Injured • 10 Firefighters Injured • 8% Containment
