At ACMI, we're creating industrial ecosystems to scale hardware. They will reinvent how ideas translate into products, helping to address the challenges of today while shaping the technology of tomorrow.

Today, Crane Army and the American Center for Manufacturing & Innovation (ACMI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that strengthens how the two organizations will work together to improve the munitions supply chain. Of note, ACMI is the lead for the munitions campus pilot, which is part of the #MCEIP pathfinder portfolio; this pilot is focused on lowering barriers to entry and creating a shared supply chain ecosystem from critical chemicals through munitions production.

Empowering critical industries to scale domestic #manufacturing capabilities and onshore facilities is essential if we are going to meet our current and future national security needs. Strengthening collaboration between government, industry, and the private sector will drive innovation and ensure that the next generation of hardware technology for defense, commercial, and industrial applications is made right here in the United States. Inspiring conversations today during the Sagamore Institute National Security conference at Notre Dame about the future of America and how the Midwest will continue to play a central role in national security and industrial resilience. ACMI Founder John Burer had the opportunity to talk with Senator Dan Coats about Indiana’s unique role in the defense industrial base and how private industry can work with government and academia to boost economic growth and build global security from the Hoosier state.

Securing domestic supply chains for key materials is essential to both national security and economic prosperity. We are excited to share the first public milestone in our partnership with the United States Department of Defense and Lacamas Laboratories to advance this work—directly impacting the defense sector as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

The American Center for Manufacturing & Innovation (ACMI) recently announced plans for a first-of-its kind public-private partnership in Indiana that will support innovation in munitions-related areas, including materials sciences, energetic materials manufacturing, and non-energetic chemical production and their supply chains. “Crane Army and Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division are the ideal partners to take on this important project,” said Pamela A. Clark, ecosystem manager for ACMI. “The longstanding relationship we will build with Crane was a key factor in selecting Indiana for the munition campus investment.
