Treehouse, an organization which provides more than 8,000 youth in foster care in Washington with academic and other essential support to graduate from high school, engaged Big Wave to help create a detailed job description and equitable interview process. They needed to hire a mission-oriented HR Director with strong fluency in racial equity to advance the Treehouse work culture. To rise to this challenge, I met with key stakeholders and the HR team, spending time with the passionate staff at the heart of the Treehouse mission. Not only did this involve Big Wave’s trademark recruitment approach, but I ramped up on my knowledge of trauma-informed training and secondary trauma, so that I could deeply understand the needs of this one-of-a-kind organization. This exceptionally targeted search went beyond the Seattle market, and allowed the organization to happily relocate the most qualified candidate back to Seattle.
