Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,000 college and university presidents—representing some 6 million students—who are committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education. As the only national higher education association dedicated solely to campus-based civic engagement, Campus Compact promotes public and community service that develops students’ citizenship skills, helps campuses forge effective community partnerships, and provides resources and training for faculty seeking to integrate civic and community-based learning into the curriculum. Members include public, private, two- and four-year institutions across the spectrum of higher education. These institutions put into practice the ideal of civic engagement by sharing knowledge and resources with their communities, creating local development initiatives, and supporting service and service-learning efforts in areas such as K-12 education, health care, the environment, hunger/homelessness, literacy, and senior services. Campus Compact comprises a national office based in Boston, MA, and state offices in CA, CO, CT, FL, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, WA, WI, and WV.

Howdy friends: my job with the (newly minted) Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement is off to an exciting start. We just officially launched under our new mission and name, after just over 30 years as a state affiliate of Campus Compact. And, we're very excited to be holding a fall series for Centering Indigenous Knowledge this October, partnering with Compact. Below is the registration link for this fall's CIK series, which happens this October, on Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 PM. The amazing Dr. Karla Bird will be back to facilitate and we'll feature scholars (faculty and student) from Salish Kootenai College, Montana State University Billings, the Buffalo Hide Academy and Chief Dull Knife College. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gQx3G_gb Again, registration is free but we recommend a donation to the American Indian College Fund and one of our tribal college partners. Thank you for attending, learning and supporting what we do, and thanks to Humanities Montana, Reach Higher Montana, Clearwater Credit Union, Montana State University-Bozeman, University of Montana and RJS Associates for their amazing support.

Campus Compact recently released a new back-to-campus starter kit entitled 🚨 Better Discourse: A Guide for Bridging Campus Divides in Challenging Times 🚨. With reference to the College Debates & Discourse Alliance, our partners, and other allies in the civil discourse space, the guide "includes invitations for self-reflection (with a corresponding guide for mapping your campus) and directs you to tools, policies, and evidence-based practices for better discourse." Both thorough and timely, this guide is a must-read for everyone in #HigherEducation. https://lnkd.in/gyrqCDMr Faculty and administrators owe it to their students to not let campuses degrade into political powder kegs this year. The resources provided in this guide -- including our programming -- can help colleges and universities proactively build bridges of understanding and foster a culture of robust, respectful dialogue. Thank you, Campus Compact! Kudos to Sara A. Mehltretter Drury and the entire project team! Laura Weaver Matt Farley Allison Briscoe-Smith Nicholas V. Longo Lisa-Marie Napoli Rachel Rains Winslow
