Ideally, the healthcare team you see for your diabetes care would consist of many different providers. This is not always the case, but if you can find a center with a multidisciplinary team, studies show that people with diabetes have better health outcomes and fewer complications when they see a team utilizing the chronic care model. This model promotes person-centered care and a team-based approach. Here’s a look at the various team members you may have on your diabetes team. 👨⚕️👩⚕️ Check out this week's Clinical Article: https://lnkd.in/gK_SaC7d #CWDiabetes #Type1Diabetes #T1D #CareTodayCureTomorrow

Last week, the Children with Diabetes team packed our bags and headed to New York City to attend a launch party for Dexcom’s newest glucose biosensor, Stelo. During the event, we learned more about this revolutionary over-the-counter sensor that will allow individuals to track glucose. Stelo users will learn more about how lifestyle choices, including food, exercise, and sleep, can affect blood sugars. Although some of us living with type 1 diabetes are fortunate to avoid some of the major complications that diabetes can cause, many people with diabetes experience complications in their lifetime. According to a 2023 article in The Lancet, 30-40% of people living with type 1 diabetes will end up with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This should be cause for alarm because these rates have not decreased significantly since the 1980s despite all the advances in diabetes care. Here is a summary of the latest scientific research on kidney health related to type 1 diabetes. Read the article: https://lnkd.in/gaS3D-CZ #CWDiabetes #Type1Diabetes #T1D #CareTodayCureTomorrow

Everything seems to affect blood sugars, from food to exercise to stress, and substances are no exception. Some recreational substances, such as alcohol and marijuana, have been well-studied, while others are less understood. In this article, we cover what current research says about some of the more common substances and diabetes. ADCES Friday recap (part one): The Children with Diabetes team had an amazing Friday in New Orleans, which was the first official day of the ADCES conference. We started our day bright and early and attended the W!LD (Advancing Women’s Leadership in Diabetes) Hot Topics breakfast event. We loved catching up with so many of our friends in the diabetes community (so much so that we almost forgot to take pictures at the event!). After breakfast, we headed to the Convention Center and spent the day at the conference. We attended the opening keynote address and then spent a lot of time in the exhibit hall visiting with our sponsors, exhibitors, and Fiffles. We’ve made some great new connections and look forward to having them join us at future FFL conferences! 💚🧡 More to come! #CWDiabetes #Type1Diabetes #T1D #CareTodayCureTomorrow #ADCES24
