In partnership with the Cadence Design Systems Giving Foundation, CHAI is leveraging its expertise in pioneering sustainable demand for healthcare products to catalyze markets for energy-efficient air conditioners through innovative mechanisms. We are excited to launch one such intervention: a study of a new energy rebate program for high-efficiency air conditioners with Tata Power-DDL and GreenTree Global in New Delhi, #India. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of financial incentives in encouraging the adoption of high-efficiency air conditioners. This move has the potential to substantially reduce energy consumption and alleviate grid strain during peak demand periods. Modeled on potential energy savings, a discount of INR 3,500 (~40 USD, representing roughly a 10% discount on the retail price) will be offered to customers who purchase a new 5-star high-efficiency air conditioner.
