Our new POV written by Matt Sakdalan and Khari Motayne focuses on subcultures and how understanding them can help you better market to HCPs. By understanding and addressing the unique values, beliefs, and behaviors of specific physician and patient subcultures, brands can craft more impactful campaigns, maintain stronger relationships, and drive better health outcomes. This approach moves beyond generic messaging and embraces the power of authentic connection, recognizing that a one-size-fits-all approach no longer resonates in today's increasingly segmented healthcare market. The Agility: Designing Healthcare in Pursuit of Hope keynote featured an introduction by icon Katie Couric (Katie Couric Media), who is important to both healthcare and to media. Katie was then joined onstage for a fireside chat by CMI Media Group CEO Dr. Susan Dorfman and Kelly Cervantes, the inspirational and absolutely engaging patient advocate and author who shared her experience building community while advocating for her daughter who had a difficult to diagnose and ultimately deadly form of epilepsy. These are three incredibly strong women who are currently using their individual super powers to change the world. Katie, about the pharma industry: “People in this industry don't appreciate how critically important their work is, and I think sometimes the pharmaceutical industry is derided and criticized. But I think if you have a personal experience in the healthcare space, as the three of us have, I think you do have a profound appreciation for the work that you all are doing and the information that you're sharing and the things that you are bringing to families who are in really difficult situations.” Susan, on the importance of listening to patients: “There is nothing like hearing something from a patient, their diagnosis, their experience, how a treatment may have helped them. It makes you feel like you're not alone. And I think that's the most important thing in healthcare.” Kelly, on her mission: “I wish that my daughter didn't have to suffer and pass the way that she did for me to have this purpose. But I told you, Katie, I don't believe that anything in life happens for a reason, but I think that we can make reason out of the things that happened in our lives. And so while I wish my daughter was still here, I don't have that choice. So I'm going to make the best of it that I can and continue to find all of the reasons and make more as the days go on.” Closing out the session, the importance of research was brought up again, aligning to the overall theme of hope. Kelly: “Research gives me hope.” Katie, speaking directly to the audience: “Hope is in the hands of everyone in this room.” #CMIAgility
