We serve those hardest to reach.

Über uns

Our Mission Community Forward helps the most vulnerable individuals of SF get off the street, find comprehensive services, and achieve stability so they may thrive. Our Vision We envision a San Francisco where every life counts. Everyone who has lost the ability to care for themselves will be given the support they need to gain control of their own lives. There will be no homelessness on the street, those with illness and addiction will be cared for, and everyone will be supported along a path toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency. Community Forward SF is a collection of vital programs that insures our neighbors experiencing homelessness have effective services designed for their unique needs. Whether one needs housing, medical shelter, a safe place to become sober, or calm in the face of domestic violence - we care for those most vulnerable in our community. We are not just one program. We are a network of programs designed to work together to meet every stage of need. We have been serving San Francisco since 1978. In that time, we’ve seen our city change drastically, and continually evolve our services to meet new needs. We serve more than 6,000 San Franciscans experiencing homelessness every year. More than 80% of our clients are women. We’re the city’s leading agency addressing the unique needs of women and trans women.

Last Friday, Community Forward SF joined the 12th Annual Restorative Justice Reentry Conference, Resource, and Job Fair. We learned about resources for justice-involved individuals, met other service providers, and recommitted to making sure that our reentry programs provide the resources for individuals to thrive upon their release.

Yesterday Rebecca Jackson shared her personal and powerful testimony at Glide Memorial Church. “While trying to be a mother I endured personal and domestic violence sometimes choosing to run away and be homeless rather than stay. No one should have to choose between having the opportunity to not die in the streets or spending the rest of their life in prison or to be with their children.” -Rebecca Jackson, VP of Reentry and Public Affairs

We are excited to announce that this Sunday, August 18th, Rebecca Jackson, Vice President of Reentry Services and Public Affairs for Community Forward SF will be a guest speaker at Glide Memorial Church at 9:00 and 11:00 am. Rebecca is a powerful advocate for systems that impact homeless women and their children in San Francisco. She will shed light on those suffering individually and silently and hopefully to encourage anyone going through that situation to seek help, or for those who know and love them to support them in the best ways possible.

As we approach the Fourth of July, a time when we celebrate the core values of liberty and freedom in our nation, Community Forward SF shares our perspective on the recent Supreme Court decision regarding Grants Pass. This ruling is a profound setback in our efforts to support and uplift those experiencing homelessness in our community. Together, we must advocate for humane, effective solutions that provide housing, healthcare, and support services, ensuring a path to stability and self-sufficiency for all. Thank you for your steadfast commitment to our mission. Together, we are making a difference.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the U.S. and the freedom of enslaved people. Juneteenth celebrates freedom, resilience, and African American heritage, while also reflecting on the ongoing fight for racial equity. Let's use this day to learn more about our history and work towards a just, equitable future. Happy Juneteenth!
