Today Webster Bank Business Resource Group Co-Chairs volunteered at the Connecticut Foodshare! Food insecurity impacts 1 in 8 individuals, 1 in 6 of which are children. It disproportionately impacts minority identities and single parent households. The 22,643 lbs our Co-Chairs packed will support 18,869 individual meals. Our New Haven, CT team recently volunteered at Connecticut Foodshare, where they sorted, inspected, and packaged 6,000 pounds of food! Their hard work will help provide 5,000 meals to families in their neighborhood who currently need a little extra help. Connecticut Foodshare supports individuals and families—from one end of the state to the other—by addressing root causes, creating long-term solutions, and distributing nutritious food through local partner programs in an effort to alleviate hunger.
