In coordination with Tennessee Initiative for Perinatal Quality Care’s (TIPQC) Chronic Lung Disease Project, our team and other hospitals across the state are working to reduce the incidence of Chronic Lung Disease (CLD). This is one of the Tennessee’s Tiniest Babies bundle projects, aimed at the most premature infants in the NICUs, and the second project our hospital team has undertaken to address the needs of this population. This involves monthly huddles, coaching calls, PDSA cycles of improvement, provider and nursing education, parent engagement, and learning from other hospitals.

The 2024 Youth Leadership Knoxville group of approximately 50 rising juniors joined us for a day to learn and meet with leaders from our Emergency Department, Simulation Lab, Behavioral Health, and Telemedicine. We are honored to be part of a wonderful program that aids students in developing their leadership skills through hands-on experience. Thank you, Leadership Knoxville!

School nurses from across the region joined us for a hands-on skills conference. The event featured training modules ranging from asthma care to diabetic equipment usage. Highlights of the day included an emergency scenario simulation and virtual sessions like wound care, suicide prevention and more. Several partners throughout the region joined East Tennessee Children's Hospital at Dick's Health and Sport Day to educate parents and children on the importance of physical activity for adolescents.
