We’re excited to share about the launch of the 3rd cohort of the Education Finance Analyst (EFA) Program! The EFA Program is a collaborative effort between Afton Partners, Charter Schools Development Corporation, Civic Builders, and Equitable Facilities Fund to recruit and train early-stage professionals to succeed in mission-driven financial services roles. Through this two-year program, participants will address one of the biggest challenges public charter schools face in promoting educational equity: securing affordable long-term facilities. Last Thursday, Yesha Shah and Crystal Roman presented their summer foundation project to their Education Finance Analyst (EFA) cohort in NYC. The project examined the funding formulas used by Chicago Public Schools and how they can impact facility affordability for charter schools. Their goal was to connect what they have learned in the collaborative EFA program with their work at Afton. With the support and mentoring of Kathy Olsen, Brytain Tate, Fulton Breen, and a few others, they were able to showcase their findings. It was a great intellectual experience and the culmination of a summer of growth. Congrats to the whole group of fellows sponsored by Afton, Equitable Facilities Fund and Civic Builders!

During our Summer Foundations Ceremony on Thursday, our second cohort of Education Finance Analyst (EFA) Fellows at Civic Builders, Afton Partners, and Equitable Facilities Fund presented their final projects and celebrated their completion of the 8-week training program. Rennic L., Arielle Dorvilus, Jason Huang, Yesha Shah, and Crystal Roman will continue their journeys equipped with foundational skills needed to advance the respective missions of EFA’s sponsor organizations and disrupt long-standing inequities in finance and public education. #EFAProgram
