In the aftermath of Hurricane Debby, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis deployed the Disaster Fraud Action Strike Teams (DFAST) to confront storm-related fraud in six severely impacted counties – Levy, Dixie, Taylor, Lafayette, Suwannee, and Hamilton. Led by a team of 21 determined personnel, including seasoned insurance fraud investigators, the team has launched a relentless mission to root out and dismantle any fraudulent activities emerging in the disaster's aftermath. CFO Patronis called upon residents to promptly report any signs of deceit, alerting them to the dangers posed by shady contractors and other deceitful professionals who might exploit vulnerable communities. In addition to deploying his anti-fraud task force, CFO Patronis announced a substantial $25,000 bounty for individuals who help capture and bring to justice those involved in fraudulent activities.
