🌞 Summer of Outreach at the Long Island Ducks Stadium! 🦆⚾ This summer, Family & Children's Association's THRIVE Everywhere van has been a familiar and welcoming presence at Fairfield Properties Ballpark during Long Island Ducks games! It’s been heartwarming to have people come up to us, recognizing THRIVE and expressing their appreciation for the services and events we offer. Hearing how our work has positively impacted their lives motivates me even more. 📅 Exciting news! We’ll be back on September 12th for another outreach event! 💜 Join us in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day on August 30th 💜 As we come together to honor and remember the lives lost to the opioid epidemic, THRIVE Recovery Centers, a program of Family & Children's Association, will host two meaningful events across Suffolk and Nassau counties. THRIVE Suffolk: 10 AM- 12 PM Candlelight Vigil | Call to Action Panel | Narcan training 📍 Location: 1324 Motor Pkwy, Ste. 102, Hauppauge, NY 11749 THRIVE Nassau: 6:30 PM - 10 PM Candlelight Vigil | Dedication of the Memorial Wall 📍 Location: 1025 Old Country Rd, Ste. 400, Westbury, NY 11590 🕯 Both events will serve as powerful reminders of the urgent need to address the opioid crisis. According to NYS Department of Health, in New York State, over 5,000 lives were lost to opioid overdoses in 2022 alone. Join Family & Children's Association & THRIVE next Friday, Aug. 30th for our International Overdose Awareness Day event. An annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. THERE IS STILL MUCH WORK LEFT TO BE DONE! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 107,000 people died of drug overdoses in 2023. Although this represents a decrease of 3% from the more than 111,000 deaths estimated in 2022, it is the first annual decrease in drug overdoses since 2018.  #EndOverdose #WeAreFCA

The Long Island office recently collected school supplies for the Family & Children's Association’s Annual Back to School Drive. Partner Jared K. is on the Board of FCA and Office Manager Candace Tarana is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) – L.I. Chapter which collaborated with various businesses to fundraise on behalf of FCA. The office was thrilled to participate and donate so local children receive needed supplies for the coming school year! #HBNYCares

The team at Pure Mammography participated in a wonderful community event with Family & Children's Association (FCA) yesterday. Their annual Back- to-School event provides backpacks and school supplies to Long Island students in need. Thank you Paige O’Brien for including PURE in this special event. FCA planned such a fun event for the kids while distributing the supplies with music, face painting, hair braiding, balloon creations, lunch and of course cotton candy! If you're not familiar with FCA, their mission is to protect and strengthen Long Island’s most vulnerable families, children, seniors, individuals, and communities. We're honored to be connected to this fantastic organization that is making a difference in the lives of Long Islanders.
