With back-to-school season upon us, the 400CM team hosted our annual backpack drive last week. Partnering once again with The Child Center of NY, we packed over 250 backpacks in an effort to provide homeless and underprivileged New York City students with essential supplies for a successful school year. Supporting education is one of the three pillars of the 400CM Pathways Program which is dedicated to creating brighter pathways for future generations by focusing on housing, education and healthcare. #400CMPathwaysProgram #backtoschool #backpackdrive #givingback #education #TheChildCenterofNY

Earlier this month, the Brooklyn Nets visited Parsons Community School for a slam dunk event! In a high-energy basketball clinic, 40 young players from various Child Center sites, including Parsons Beacon, SONYC-QSI, SONYC-Queens United, and SONYC-CASA, got a taste of NBA-level training. With Brooklyn Nets trainers leading the charge, the kids ran drills, honed their skills, and learned the magic of teamwork. It was a day of hoops, high-fives, and future NBA stars in the making! This week, Governor Kathy Hochul participated in a roundtable discussion where she announced $1 million to expand access to mental health care across Queens by partnering with five community-based providers including TCCNY, Charles Wang Community Health Center, Transitional Services for New York, Korean Community Services, and Venture House. “The mental health crisis is the defining challenge of our time and when I took office, I vowed to transform our mental health system,” Governor Hochul said. “Struggling New Yorkers deserve a system that is suited for and responsive to their needs, and this $1 million investment will expand access to care across Queens so that every New Yorker has the tools and resources they need to succeed.” Join us in thanking Governor Hochul and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards for their continued investment in Queens and NYC, expanding mental health resources for more people in our community than ever! Meet Alejandro, a graduate of August Martin High School, TCCNY’s Summer Youth Employment & WIOA Programs, and recipient of the Saint Gaudens Medal award from The Met’s School Art League. During middle school, Alejandro immigrated to the U.S. from Haiti with their family, arriving in NYC shortly before COVID-19. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Alejandro found a passion for art & architecture and decided to pursue a career in the field.
