September is #ThyroidCancerAwarenessMonth. In 2024, the American Cancer Society estimates that over 44,000 new cases of #thyroidcancer will be diagnosed. The thyroid is an essential organ in the endocrine system, responsible for regulating hormones. Did you know that thyroid cancer is almost three times more common in women than it is in men? It is also a cancer type that tends to be seen at younger ages, as compared to most adult cancers. In the past decade, the incidence rate for thyroid cancer has been on the decline — dropping by about 2% every year. Exciting research is being done to help improve thyroid cancer treatments. For advanced-stage thyroid cancer, targeted therapy drugs are becoming more promising options for better outcomes, as compared to traditional methods like chemotherapy. #thyroidcancerawareness
