Reflecting on the Portland Cement Association’s 2nd Annual Sustainability Summit: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary Brad Crabtree's presentation revealed some exciting insights. We've underestimated our industry's ability to decarbonize—new technologies and innovative practices are accelerating progress beyond initial projections. Notably, the IRA and BIL have been game-changers. Under Crabtree's leadership, the Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) is fostering an environment where emerging technologies can flourish, creating a more optimistic outlook for sustainable cement production. The cement industry is at the forefront of sustainable innovation, moving faster and more efficiently than we imagined. As we continue our journey to a low-carbon future, it's inspiring to see how far we've come and how much potential lies ahead. #PCASummit2024 #PCARoadmap #NetZero #Sustainability #Decarbonization

📢 Some recent highlights from the Fortera team 📢 Here’s a look at images from our Redding ReCarb Plant including a few supersacks of ReAct green cement! 💚🏗️ Getting to this stage is a testament to the ingenuity of our team, not only for creating a low-carbon cement with 70% lower emissions than ordinary cement but also for managing all of the problems—both large and small—that come with achieving operational status at a manufacturing plant. Recently, we reached a significant breakthrough after two years of intensive collaboration with ASTM International and AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials). ReAct now meets ATSM-150 and ATSM-595 designations, clearing a path to market through incorporation in cement and concrete blends. Green cement is here thanks to this team! More ReAct news is coming soon! 🎉 #Fortera #GreenCement #CleanCement #SustainableConstruction #Manufacturing #Innovation #Teamwork

For my next shout-out, I want to thank our outstanding Capital Projects team at Fortera! If commercializing a new technology was a triathlon, developing the concept and proving it out in the lab and at pilot scale would be the swim. Slow, steady progress. To get to the third stage where you are 'just running', you have a long bike ride in the middle with many hills to climb. Definitely the longest portion of the triathlon with the most ground to cover. This is how I would describe the role of the capital projects team. It is getting into the details, driving down costs, forming strategic relationships on the EPC and equipment side, and holding schedules. Execution. Execution. Execution. Looking forward to being able to share with the world what this team is making happen! Mandy Beltz, Eric Clark, Greg DiCosola, Stephanie G., Taylor Sarria
