💃🏽 BRAT summer. Kamala Harris smashing fundraising records by raising $81M in 24H. Women winning more than half of team USA’s Olympic medals. The world continues to be a scary place, but powerful, changemaking women forging a path for themselves (and us!) gives us a🫸 hopeful pause 🫷amidst the doomscrolling. In an unsteady market, while financial and VC purse strings tightened, team Rootless raised close to half a million dollars from our community. Over 65% of our investors are unaccredited (likely first-time!) female investors. Our minimum check size was $500. It was not what we set out to raise in its entirety, but the journey has revealed that We are ready to put our money where our values are, and build a system - even a new system of capital! - that works for us and is rooted in hope. Fear moves quickly. Hope takes time to seed, but once it does, it has the power to fundamentally change us and our world. Something hopeful is happening here, I know you feel it too.
