UK creatives Eboni Lamine and Martha Omasoro have partnered with Build Hollywood and Getty Images to launch Let Black Girls be Girls – a first-of-its-kind social impact campaign which aims to raise awareness of the issue of Adultification Bias in the UK. From Monday 26th August to Sunday 8th September, a billboard and poster campaign will be on display across London, Birmingham, Manchester & Bristol to highlight the widespread misrepresentation of Black girls in the UK media. Lamine and Omasoro are spearheading the campaign with support from Getty Images, who have created the Black Girls in Britain Visual Guidelines to help media, agencies and brands to choose and create visuals that accurately represent Black British identities such as ethnicity, religion, region, body types and age. Chief Sports Photographer Jamie Squire spoke with The Clios about the significant amount of work, preparation and planning it requires for Getty Images photographers to be successful during the Olympic Games, highlighting the long days, flexibility and a reliance on instinct and split-second decisions during key moments. With gymnastics as a marquee event, Jamie talks about photographing from both the floor and photographer’s pen and how he snapped an iconic moment of Simone Biles holding up her G.O.A.T. necklace after winning gold. As Jamie shares, " having the freedom of creativity to shoot major sporting events is a big responsibility and can be both scary and motivating at the same time." I didn't get to go to the Paris Olympics, but I did get to interview Jamie Squire for Muse by Clios. He's the chief sports photographer at Getty Images, and he is at the Paris Olympics covering everything from beach volleyball to fencing. Squire was focusing his lens on the women's and men's gymnastics competitions when we spoke last week and had just captured that iconic image of Simone Biles, the G.O.A.T. of women’s gymnastics, showing off her diamond-encrusted goat necklace after winning gold in the all-around competition. It was pretty exciting and inspiring to talk to him. He has been covering the Olympics since 1996, and to this day, he marvels at being able to make a living doing what he loves. “It’s a dream job. A lot of people I talk to—they’re fascinated by what we do and how we do it. They’re like, ‘You have the coolest job. You’re right on the sidelines.’ And it’s true,” he says. “I don’t do anything to dispel that because I’m witnessing history. I’m right there.” #gettyimages #photography #olympics #parisolympics #kindajealous https://lnkd.in/e27wjFfS
