In a milestone development, GMHC has won a transformative federal grant to provide comprehensive harm-reduction care at no cost to anyone wanting help with substance use. “We are excited. We’re proud to present Oni Blackstock, M.D., M.H.Sc. & Uché Blackstock, M.D. with the Judith Peabody Humanitarian Award at the 2024 GMHC Gala “For All, End Stigma” on September 30 at Tribeca Rooftop! Dr. Oni Blackstock is a renowned primary care and HIV physician, researcher, and public health practitioner. Dr. Blackstock is the founder and Executive Director of Health Justice. Her dynamic career has been defined by a relentless pursuit of equity and justice in healthcare. Dr. Uché Blackstock is the founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity (AHE), appears regularly on MSNBC and NBC News, and is a former associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the former faculty director for recruitment, retention, and inclusion in the Office of Diversity Affairs at NYU School of Medicine. Doctors Oni and Uché both hold degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School and have both made incredible strides promoting racial equity in healthcare. #gmhcgala2024

GMHC’s Meals and Nutrition program has been with us since the start, persevered through the pandemic, and is still here and stronger than ever! Nutrition is one of the most important, yet most challenging aspects of living with HIV. GMHC is dedicated to supporting our clients who face food insecurity. GMHC’s kitchen is up and running again, with free hot lunches provided to clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Our clients’ needs are always our TOP priority! That’s why GMHC has quadrupled our supportive housing programs this year, with the help of federal and local grants. Amid a national housing crisis, GMHC knows that stable housing means more than just a roof over someone’s head.
