Thanks to a collaboration between Mexico City’s Disaster Risk Management Secretariat and Humane Society International/Mexico, over 100 officials, including firefighters and rescue units, received crucial training on handling animals in crisis. This 2024 initiative ensures pets are protected during disasters, with training covering CPR and emergency care.

HSI teamed up with local Romanian NGO, Sache Association, to bring a mobile vet clinic to Valea Plopului, a refuge for survivors of domestic violence and their animals. 🐾❤️ With hundreds of animals in need of care, our amazing team provided much-needed veterinary services. 🐶🐱 This ongoing project aims to improve the lives of both pets and people in the community.

🚨Humane Society International India responded in the hardest-hit regions of Chooralmala and Mundakkai in Wayanad, India following the deadly landslides of July 30th. In collaboration with the local government and partners, the team rescued stranded animals and provided vital veterinary care and food. Today we are featuring Jallah Fahnbulleh, who has served as a government relations liaison for HSI’s Second Chance Chimpanzee Refuge Liberia for the past four years. In his role, Jallah works with communities to promote the work that they do at the sanctuary, which cares for more than 60 chimpanzees who were previously used as test subjects in laboratories. 🌟 It’s World Lion Day! 🌟 Douala came to Black Beauty Ranch from a roadside zoo in Canada, where she was rescued by HSI from a life of neglect and cruelty. 🦁💛 She loves lounging on her high platform in the mornings and hiding in the forest shade during the heat of the day. She also loves playing with her favorite enrichment items, like a ball or pumpkin! 🐾☀️
