Bloomberg reports: Trading in ICE's Gasoil futures and options markets has thrived since Russian barrels were excluded from the contract in 2023 📈 ICE saw a series of open interest records in gasoil, or low-sulphur diesel, markets during June 2024. Activity was particularly strong in options with open interest and quarterly volumes at a record. "More than 18 months on from ICE's first successful delivery of Russian-free barrels of gasoil, the contract continues as the most liquid distillate benchmark," said Jeff Barbuto, Global Head of Oil Markets at ICE. As reported by The National News: Murban crude futures hit record trading volumes in Q2 with 1.5 million contracts traded, equivalent to 1.5 billion barrels of Murban crude – reflecting a 160% increase since the start of the year 📈 ICE Futures Abu Dhabi and ICE’s Murban futures market launched in March 2021 with ADNOC Group and nine of the world’s largest energy traders as founding partners. While many of us are sweltering in the summer heat, cooling inflation is one reason for cheer – helping set the stage for a September U.S. rate cut.
