The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) partnered with Teleperformance, Thorn and Aylo to compile a best practice for age determination across technology and human review, The report covers both the role of AI/ML technology for assessing age and the best practices for moderators, including processes, training, and other important topics for effective human review. ➡️ Insight into the complexities surrounding age determination in user-generated content. ➡️ Emphasis on its vital importance for enforcing content policies, especially regarding minors. ➡️ Exploration of the challenges platforms face, including biases in technology and cultural influences. ➡️ Overview of key technologies employed, from AI for age estimation to CSAM classifiers. ➡️ Understanding the indispensable role of human review in validating AI predictions and providing context-driven decisions.
