Driving digital transformation to promote sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. IFC and Microsoft have partnered to identify and enhance investment opportunities in digital transformation across the region, with a focus on sectors such as mining, energy, smart cities, transportation, and public services. Through this agreement, we will provide our clients with advisory services and financing, while Microsoft will contribute its technological solutions, mainly emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). #MSMEs play a crucial role in the Philippine economy, making up 99.5% of firms in the country, contributing about 40% of GDP and employing 65% of the labor force. However, access to finance remains a major challenge for entrepreneurs. CARD SME Bank, one of the largest microfinance institutions in the Philippines, has helped serve more than 1.4 million clients, of which 90% are women. #Jordan's financial sector makes another exciting green leap. IFC - International Finance Corporation announced it subscribed $50 million in Jordan’s 1st locally issued sustainability bond by Jordan Ahli Bank. The proceeds from the bond will be used to fund climate and socially responsible projects that can positively impact the environment and the economy. Why does Jordan need this? Jordan is increasingly vulnerable to climate-related hazards, including rising temperatures, droughts, and landslides. Expanding #climatefinance can help SMEs reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. It will also help create up to 10,000 jobs, which can lower Jordan’s unemployment rate, which currently stands at 22%.
