  • Meet Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA) Property Manager Nick Echterling. The Hoosier native has had a long DNR history as he grew up hunting and fishing with his dad at LaSalle and Glendale FWAs. After graduating with his bachelor’s in wildlife biology, the Purdue grad returned to familiar grounds, working as an intermittent and laborer at LaSalle, assistant manager at Glendale and manager at Hovey Lake FWA. In 2020, Echterling returned to northern Indiana becoming JP property manager, where he manages the wetlands to provide ideal roosting habitat for sandhill crane migrations. In his free time, Echterling enjoys waterfowl hunting and fishing, especially on Lake Michigan for Coho salmon. #IndianaDNR

The incumbent provides technical expertise about the National Flood Insurance and floodplain mapping Cooperating Technical Partner programs as well as the Indiana Floodplain Information Portal.
