Andrea Marvan Saltiel, Chair of the Mexican Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece), has been newly appointed as one of two ICN Steering Group Vice Chairs at the ICN Annual Conference in Brazil in May 2024 alongside Lina Khan, Chair of the US FTC. In this capacity, Andrea will focus on emerging competition issues. On day 2 of #ICNSauipe2024 heads of agencies discussed the role of state-owned enterprises in a session, which also welcomed perspectives from OECD and UNCTAD. The discussion emphasized the importance of state-owned enterprises being subject to competition law when they engage in commercial activities. The ICN and its member agencies advocate for the consistent application of competition law to such companies. #ICN #InternationalCompetitionNetwork #CompetitionAdvocacy #OECD #UNCTAD
