In our IVLP program focusing on Minority Inclusion in Media Newsrooms, we had an opportunity to meet with Ms. Elizabeth Guerin, Co-Owner and Vice President of Production at Island TV. Her session offered our group of Estonian media leaders invaluable insights into her dual role as a VP and host, emphasizing her commitment to elevating Caribbean voices in South Florida's media landscape. Elizabeth's passion for connecting with and representing the Caribbean community through Island TV's dynamic and culturally rich programming was evident. Island TV stands as a beacon of Caribbean culture, broadcasting in English, French, and Creole to a wide audience across Florida and Latin America. Our visitors also had the unique opportunity to observe a live taping at Island TV, experiencing firsthand the vibrant storytelling and community engagement that define the channel. The Children's Trust would like to express its appreciation to Nailah Robinson, the winner of the Spoken Word category in the 2023 Young Talent Big Dreams (YTBD) competition. Nailah joined Island TV and The Children's Trust's Media Manager Lindsay Francois to discuss her experience and the impact YTBD had on her and other young talents. She explained how the contest helped her overcome shyness, make new friends and showcase her talent. The competition is returning for its 14th year, with the first audition scheduled for March 24 at The Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables.
