💊 Liver Tissue Chip for DDI Induction Studies 💊 Traditional in vitro models often fall short in assessing both perpetrator and victim drugs due to rapid loss of metabolic function or convolution from non-human cells. In our latest manuscript, we demonstrate the utility of the Javelin Liver Tissue Chip as a robust tool for pre-clinical DDI Induction Studies. Javelin’s unique all-human in vitro system with continuous recirculation maintains long-term functionality and metabolic activity for up to 4 weeks, enabling the study of perpetrator and victim drug pharmacokinetics, quantification of drug-induced CYP mRNA and activity levels, investigation of patient variability, and ultimately clinical predictions. Read more about our findings in the full article to explore how these advancements provide a translational experimental system for drug interaction assessments and learn how we’re humanizing drug discovery! bioRxiv preprint: https://lnkd.in/gJWm3KF7 #livertissuechip #drugdiscoveryhumanized #DDI #ADME Shivam Ohri, Paarth Parekh, Lauren Nichols, Shiny Amala Priya Rajan, Ph.D., MBA, Murat Cirit

This week, Javelin Biotech was showcased at the Massachusetts State House for an animal-free technology demonstration day held by The Humane Society of the United States in support of Bill H.850. This bill, sponsored by Rep. Jack Patrick Lewis, aims to reduce animal testing in cosmetics and household product development, promoting a more humane approach to scientific research. Murat Cirit and Kevin O'Handley demonstrated the Liver Tissue Chip platform and shared how we are humanizing research and product testing. Learn more about bill H850: https://lnkd.in/etayFyz7

Accurate clinical translation of preclinical research remains challenging, primarily due to species-specific differences and disease and patient heterogeneity. Given this, how do you know how relevant your model is? This study by Javelin Biotech describes the development of pathway-based similarity measurement (PBSM), which leverages RNA-seq data and pathway-based information to assess the human relevance of preclinical models for specific CoU. This figure shows PBSM-based scores for pre-clinical animal models of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease compared to reference human NAFL liver tissue samples for the KEGG NAFL pathway. There is a room for improvement - Stay tuned for more about Javelin’s human healthy and disease models! bioRxiv preprint: https://lnkd.in/dUZVAGCD
