    Last week, Cameron Bruett, Head of Corporate Affairs, participated in a roundtable discussion with Congresswomen Caraveo and other leaders in the Greeley, CO, community. The discussion was held to tackle the issue of affordable housing and the stresses that many Colorado residents are facing with the historically high cost of housing. 

    Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity hosted a roundtable discussion convened by Congresswoman Caraveo to tackle the pressing issue of the affordable housing crisis. Energized by the passion and determination in the room, the roundtable participants, including the City of Greeley, Assistant City Manager Juliana Kitten, Housing Director Deb Callies, Cameron Bruett, Head of Corporate Affairs at JBS USA, Julia Selby, Policy Analyst, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Pat Noonan, Program Director Colorado Housing Connects, Jodi Hartman, High Plains Authority, Krissy Adamow, Sr. Program Manager, Alquist 3D and our own CEO, Cheri Witt-Brown, dove into essential topics relating to the stresses on Colorado residents historically high cost of housing. The panel discussed the multitude of the challenges in developing and building affordable housing units in Colorado. Congresswoman Caraveo was keenly focused on how she can help advocate to address those challenges at the federal level.     We are proud to announce the launch of our new apprenticeship program that gives 10 high school students enrolled in Greeley-Evans District 6 schools the opportunity to further their education with our company. The program will give students hands-on experiences and in-depth knowledge of the food industry in a professional environment. Nelson Rodriguez, Greeley-Evans District 6 Business and Community Partnerships administrator stated, “Work-based learning is so impactful for students. It’s such a powerful experience when they’re actually able to apply what they’re learning in their classes to the real world.     ⚾ It’s a home run for the Cactus, TX, community! ⚾ Today, we held a grand opening of the Cactus Little League fields, where kids and their families will be able to spend time, be active and make memories. Aldo Gallegos, Cactus City Manager stated, “When JBS calls your region home, they go the extra mile to help make the community a special place to live, and JBS Field is a perfect example of our ongoing partnership. Generations of youth in Cactus, Texas, will live out their dreams on this field and we are proud to partner on yet another great community project with JBS.” Checkout the video below to learn more about the new fields!

    Our Green Bay, WI, facility recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the most extensive community-led housing development in the history of Green Bay. JBS Green Bay donated 25 acres of land and $500,000 toward this development. Brad Bothun, Human Resources Director at JBS stated, “The increase of affordable housing in our region is something that will benefit our team members, their families and many of our neighbors as well. At JBS, we believe that positive change can happen when the local government, companies and non-profits come together to address the needs of our community.” We are looking forward to seeing all the positive opportunities this new development brings to the Green Bay community!     JBS Sanitation recently held a conference for all managers at our corporate headquarters in Greeley, CO. During the conference, attendees heard from JBS USA CEO Wesley Batista Filho, Global Head of Food Safety & Quality Assurance Al Almanza and many other company leaders. As JBS USA moves forward with in-house sanitation services, we strive to foster collaboration, continuous improvement and partnership throughout the company.

    Today, we released our 2023 Sustainability Report. JBS is striving to set the food industry standard for profitable and sustainable food production. This means improving the sustainable performance and resiliency of not only the company’s own operations but also contributing to the enhanced sustainability of the greater food production system as a whole. Jason Weller, Global Chief Sustainability Officer stated, “We invest time, expertise, and resources into creating a better future and a more resilient food system in key areas such as economic viability, environmental quality, global food security, affordable food choices and improved quality of life for people doing the work.” A few highlights from our report include: -The company has invested more than $150 million across hundreds of projects in our own facilities to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in a 17 percent decrease in intensity since 2019. -More than $5 million in partnership projects have been approved to further the company’s Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategy throughout the value chain. -In Brazil, we have driven groundbreaking initiatives to enhance transparency and traceability in the livestock supply chain, such as the Transparent Livestock Farming Platform. -In the U.K., investments have been made in climate-smart facility upgrades and an off-grid poultry farm of the future. -In the U.S., we have established multiple methane-to-renewable-energy conversion initiatives.
