The JTA is Moving Forward, building a stronger, better-connected Northeast Florida today and for the future. Today was a great celebration of this work. Service enhancements that include increased frequency on select routes began this week. We launched the Brooklyn AV Circulator, a free service for community members to try AV technology. We hosted a public meeting for the community to view an inspiring collection of local artwork and provide feedback on that will be featured in transit locations along the Northwest Corridor. And finally, we celebrated our customers this morning with a platform party at the JRTC to honor our future together. Since the day we broke ground on the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla (JRTC), the Jacksonville Transportation Authority has been driven to revitilize this historic neighborhood back to its glory days.   We can't wait to bring back good coffee, breakfast & lunch options, and a new place to meet and greet in downtown Jax ☕️🍩❤️ Grounds Of Grace Cinottis Bakery and Sandwich Shop

A multidisciplined team from the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and our construction partners, along with members of the Jacksonville Transportation Advisory Committee (JTAC), took a tour along the future Bay Street Innovation Corridor. The BSIC is part of our autonomous vehicle U2C program, and the feedback we received from JTAC will ensure that the disabled community will benefit from this future mobility service coming to Jacksonville in 2025. Another example of our “Boots on the ground” style, again led by SVP Greer Johnson Gillis and her team from system planning, construction, customer experience, facilities, and safety, this time traveling through Jax’s NW Corridor. This bus tour allowed for in-person inspecting of the various bus shelters and stops that have been designated for improvements. These future shelters will feature custom artwork from local artists, on-site technology to allow real time information, and several safety upgrades. Congratulations to JTA Board Treasurer Patricia Sams for being nominated to serve on the American Public Transportation Association Board of Directors! The Nominating Committee nominated officers, as well as members for both the APTA Executive Committee and Board of Directors, on August 15.

This year's Emergency Preparedness and Response Guide from the City of Jacksonville is out and we couldn't be more proud of JTA's own Operator/ATU Chief Steward Ramon Farfan and Safety & Emergency Preparedness Administrator Michael Garland PTSCTP, TSSP (Bus/Rail), for being featured on the cover along with Mayor Donna Deagan and representatives from around the city's safety infrastructure. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority's Summer Internship Program closed with a fantastic flourish today, as our class of 2024 Interns presented their final projects to a captivated audience. Their supervisors and teams beamed with pride as the presentations rolled through, offering their insight, detailed analysis, and fresh looks into all the moving parts of the JTA: Operations, Finance, Skyway, System Planning, Automation/Innovation, Sustainability, HR, Revenue, Marketing/Communications, IT, Business Intelligence, Security, and Maintenance. In attendance were CEO Nat Ford, Chief Administrative Officer Cleveland Ferguson III, J.D., D.H.L., Chief Infrastructure & Development Officer Greer Johnson Gillis, Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Smith, and Chief Financial Officer Raj Srinath, as well as staff from all across the agency. Senior leaders from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority came together yesterday, to discuss the important topic of Transit Worker Safety. Assaults on transit workers is an increasing concern nationwide. The JTA in partnership with the JSO and other regional public safety partners, is focused on our commitment to the safety of our frontline employees. The JTA maintains a close relationship with the JSO and other regional public safety partners, this is an example of the reaffirmation of our joint commitment to the safety of our frontline workers.  In attendance from the JSO were the Chief of Patrol Enforcement, Chief of Patrol Support, Chief of Investigations, and Chief of Special Events, all of whom joined JTA CEO Nat Ford, Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Smith, Chief Safety Officer Chris Geraci, CPP, WSO-CSSD, and Vice President of ATU Local 1197 Henry Griffin. “The safe way is the only way” #safety #publictransit
