The Governor of Hawaiʻi announced earlier this week that the State has reached an agreement with the Army to permit Kawaihāpai Airfield on the North Shore of Oʻahu to remain open to the public. Kawaihāpai Airfield, formerly known as Dillingham Airfield, was threatened with closure if the State could not negotiate a long-term lease with the Army, and early negotiations proved complicated. Our partner, Katie van Heuven, assisted by Eric Pilsk and Peter Kirsch, represented the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation in negotiating and completing this transaction that allows this important recreational facility to remain open.
